CJ Dunn is a graphic designer and type designer based in New York City. In 2016, he launched his digital type foundry, CJ Type, where he designs typefaces for retail and custom clients, and released his first retail typeface, Dunbar. In 2019 he released the typeface Louvette which includes an augmented reaily typeface specimen and in 2021 he released the typeface Pennypacker.
He enjoys both making type and using type, and is interested in the dialog between the two practices. His graphic design work can be found at Copter Design Studio. He has taught at School of Visual Arts and University of the Arts, and been a consultant for Society of Scribes.
His exhibitions include “Language Arts”, “Polaris, A Typographic Pop-Up” and “After the before/Before the after”. He designed a pangram poster series for The Cooper Hewitt Design Museum Shop. He built a RoboFont extension called Delorean, and he is a graduate of Type@Cooper where he designed a typeface called Range which you are reading now. CJ can be emailed at cjtypehello@gmail.com
